For beginning students, around ages 5-9, I start with easy songs, but also teach them how singing works. I like to teach technique, and help students improve in their singing. Once students have grasped the fundamentals of singing, I'll let them start looking at solo repertoire so they can practice for a recital performance. I began teaching private lessons and ensemble rehearsals in 1999, having since taught everything from elementary music and concert band to marching band and college-level drum corps. I love it all, as it's all about sharing the positive experience of performance and excellence with the next generation of musicians.
