Instruments: Drums Latin Percussion Djembe
I’ve been teaching drums from 7 years. When I was in music school, I started teaching family members and friends the material I was taught because I was so excited about it. This eventually progressed to me using online classified ads and posting flyers around town in hope to get more students. Through this, I discovered how much I love sharing what I know with others. It's fulfilling to see students have those moments where things are clicking for them musically and to help them get there means a lot. Read More

The ultimate goal that I have for my students is to see that they have the same passion for music that I found when I was at my beginning. Nothing is more satisfying than seeing a student revel in their own personal relationship with music, but to share their love of music, this is paramount. Music is a learned skill, and nothing in life worth doing comes automatic. Pacing and acknowledgements of good work tend to encourage students to continue their hard work. Read More
Instruments: Piano Flute Piccolo Music
For flute beginning students, I usually start with the Essential Elements. Once the student has grasped the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their skill level. For flute intermediate to advanced students, I try to find out what the student is interested in, what they have previously worked on, and what their goals are musically. I like to focus on fundamentals such as extended scales in various patterns, etudes geared towards development of a specific technical aspect, and solo repertoire containing these fundamentals. I began teaching my senior year of high school in California. Since then, I have established myself as a teacher in New York City, teaching both privately and in public schools. From 2013-2014, I was given a wonderful opportunity to teach students in Nebraska via the Distance Learning studio at Manhattan School of Music. Throughout my eight years of teaching, I have found myself constantly learning and growing as a teacher with my students. Read More
Instruments: Trombone
I've been a trombonist for 33 years. I graduated from Judson High School in Converse, TX in 1991, where I was Band President. We retained 1's in our marching and concert performances, as well as with the Jazz Ensemble. We won First Place in a National Marching and Concert competition in Colorado Springs, CO my senior year, as well as performing half time shows at two state football championship games. I've performed professionally since then, acquired my music degree and have made it all the way to performing with stars for a sold out audience at The Hollywood Bowl. Read More
Instruments: Trumpet
My teaching experience sates back to running trumpet sectionals (in Junior High High School) for an All Star Jazz Band in my home town. When I was 16 I started teaching younger trumpet students as well. I descovered early on that I had a passion for directing and teaching. This stayed with me, and I always have incorporated education into my directing and leadership styles as a perormer. As a Musical Director for Royal Caribbean I would regularly have to teach an hour long show to my international band in under an hour and a half.I know that learning an instrument is hard work and that motivation is key to success. Born and raised in Austin, Texas, I began playing guitar when I was 8 years old. My love for music has deepened over time, and I feel it is important to share my knowledge and passion for the art with whoever is willing to learn. My earliest teachers taught me in a way that made music fun, rather than tedious, which to me is essential. I played in Jazz Band through middle school and high school, which opened my ears to another dimension of music. Read More
