I initially have a student work on a series of simple fingering exercises. This gets the student familiar with the feel of the instrument and helps to reinforce how the left and right hands work together when performing. Another benefit is that it helps the student to build speed/dexterity when playing. I began teaching voice lessons my senior year of high school. When I got to college I began work as a show choir director in Hartford, CT. I have learned so much from my students. I have learned to teach in a way that students of all ages will understand. An example of this is teaching a young student how to use their head voice when singing high notes.
