Beginning students will start out with technique practices, while introducing solo literature when appropriate. Technique studies can always be improved and studied, no matter a student's age or proficiency. I try to work within the repertoire a student is interested in at first, then expanding to materials and genres the student may find interesting to help broaden the experience and knowledge a student can gain from our lessons. No matter the age or ability level, I help students understand that each lesson and new idea or piece we learn adds to their experience, and experiences are building blocks for our futures. My teaching experience began when I arrived in San Franciso about 15 years ago. It has developed from a part time side job at that time, to an established and integral part of my life and career. As my musical career and experience have grown, so too has my passsion for teaching. And for the last 5 years, I have been teaching ESL in Indonesia, while continuing my musical tutoring, and this has helped me incredibly in relating to students' needs, as well as in recognizing the role of a student's background and environment in their learning process. My methods vary according to the student.  If the student is less than 12 years old, I like to use the Hal Leonard Method 1 book.  If the student is 12 or older, I may still use the Hal Leonard book, but I assess the students goals, and find out what they would like to learn.  Whatever style of music the student is interested in learning, I believe in teaching proper posture and sound technique.  For anyone interested in learning classical guitar, I recommend a book titled Pumping Nylon by Scott Tennant. my teaching style is fun and fast. as each student progresses at their own pace. it is very important to set realistic goals. i motivate kids by giving them stickers for each exercise they passed. and that allows them to study and practice more. after they finish a method book, they receive a certificate of achievement. i can successfully guide students thru any challenges they go thru in the music learning process. that gives them the motivation to keep going. i teach them discipline and to have a consistent practicing schedule. Instruments: Piano

I enjoy sharing my knowledge of music and teaching piano. I am patient with the students and let them progress at their own speed. With children, I also play musical themed games to keep their interest. I get along very well the the students and enjoy teaching them. I mostly have the student play at least one song from the lesson book along with one page from the theory book. Read More

Instruments: Saxophone

This is my very first time teaching private lessons, but I promise you that the knowledge that I have for music and the saxophone will be worth your musical needs. I want to make sure the student is having fun making music while in my private lessons. I encourage all of my students that I would teach to practice at least 30 minutes a day. I also encourage my students to join ensembles outside of their school. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
