About 10 years a go, I began teaching on the side. I now have 30+ students. Some come to my home and some at a studio in St. Clair Shores. My goal is to get my singers performing as much a s possible. We have a standing performance at a local coffee house every month as well as an annual recital. Soprano, Amanda W. is recently graduated from Bowling GreenState University with her Master's in Vocal Performance. For her undergrad, she attended Eastern Michigan University and received her Bachelor's in Vocal Performance. She attended the Utah Vocal Arts academy over the summer of 2017. For the summer of 2016, she was given a tuition scholarship by the American Institute of Musical Studies to study in Graz, Austria. During the years 2015-2016, she was a young artist with the Pittsfield Opera Theatre and sang with the Dixboro United Methodist Chancellor Choir. Read More

I began piano lessons in the 2nd grade, and studied flute and guitar, and finally settled on playing French Horn in High School. I took lessons from a horn player in the Detroit Symphony. I majored in French horn and orchestral conducting at the Rubin Academy in Tel-Aviv, Israel, and completed my Undergraduate degree at the University of Nebraska-Omaha. I have been teaching music for more than 10 years. While living in New York City I taught group ensemble classes for students ages 10-16 which played everything from jazz standards to pop, rock, hip-hop and blues. I’ve taught private lessons in drums, guitar and piano for Third Street Music Settlement, the country’s oldest community music school. My students have went on to participate in Berklee School of Music and Jazz at Lincoln Center educational programs. Read More

It is a pleasure for me to hear my students progress from their first steps as timid, first-time players to confident and more musically mature young musicians. My students participate in a monthly MDML recital and an annual music test organized by the MMTA. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with the Faber series, along with accompanying primer theory and lesson book. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. In addition to this, I typically start to add scale exercises to increase strength and speed in one's fingers. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More
