Firstly, as with anything, I try to get to know my students and their goals. Once I know where they are at, we can devise a plan for particular repertoire to play and particular techniques to master. I'm all about having fun through the process of learning the piano--piano lessons can often be seen as these nervewracking sessions, I prefer to treat my lessons as collaborative explorations where both myself and the student learn more about music-making together. I started playing drums when I was 10 years old in my elementary school band. Quickly, I became hooked to practicing and getting better and growing as a musician. I also fell in love with music and it's healing abilities. As a teenager, I played in my high school concert band, jazz band and had my own rock bands outside of school. I was hungry for anything to make me a better drummer. Read More

I am a former Suzuki student--I began at age 3.5 with my mom as my teacher--so I believe that Suzuki is an incredible method for teaching young string players. The aural memory I attained by learning this way still continues to benefit me in my career each and every day! I obtained my Suzuki Teacher Certification from the School for Strings, NY, with Pamela Devenport, and am happy to teach the Suzuki method only or in combination with traditional methods. Read More

As the student becomes more advanced, we will learn beats that are more challenging in a variety of styles, and gain independence and fluidity around the drums. We will learn rudiments and more finely tune their technique and learn songs that are more and more complex. For students at higher levels we can get into jazz drumming and rudimental percussion. No matter what, the lessons will be a great time and you can get better every week! Read More

My influences range from Ella Fitzgerald, to Dean Martin, to Tony Bennett, and Barbra Streisand, to name several. I take what I like from those artists, and add my own sound to it. I had the opportunity to perform with JT and California Dreamin in Southern California for a PBS fundraiser. That band leader is John Tu, the founded of the Sim Card. I perform regularly with jazz combos, and with a 17 piece Big Band. Read More
