Typically, I favor using traditional curriculum for beginning students (Alfred, Faber, Bastian). As a student progresses we typically incorporate Clemeneti sonatinas and the students favorite pop/modern songs. When a student achieves an advanced level of difficulty curriculum is purchased depending on the student's goals, college aspirations, and learning objectives. I typically administer a Classical Method of education, whether in private lessons or the classroom. It is my hope that time in my classroom encourages dialectic conversation and reaps gains in every learning situation. Read More

I started teaching Math professionally when I was 18 years old. After 21 years old, I started to teach at local music school as well as teaching privately at students houses. Some students asked me to teach Japanese, and I have taught Japanese as well. Teaching is my calling and I am good at it. I am just helping people to understand things they do not know or understand. I grew up with a private tutor and my academic was excellent. Read More

I always like to simplify the information delivery and maximize the playing. For this reason and, considering the differences that make us all unique, I would generally rely on specific methods depending on the needs of each student. Of course, in general terms, most beginners would have quite a lot of transcribing (playing songs or relevant parts of songs of important musicians), most intermediate students will learn some scales and chords and their uses and most advanced students will learn chord melody (solo guitar), improvising and comping in different styles and writing and arranging songs. The number one priority I have towards my students is to get them playing a lot of the time, and with proper technique. In the end, it is the student that "teaches" themselves through proper training and not the teacher. The teacher cannot give the student finger dexterity, strength or the ability to read and interpret music directly. The learning process during lessons includes demonstrating, making mistakes and correcting those mistakes so that the student can learn and practice efficiently. Read More

Music and art is what I live for. During middle school, piano was my favorite class, and at a young age I knew I wanted to become a music teacher. I have been teaching myself guitar since I was 14 years old. Although I have been in many bands of many styles, Flamenco and Classical music is my real passion. From Cafe Sevilla in downtown, to Cafe Europe in PB, I perform on various stages around San Diego. Read More

My students must study at there own pace I don't agree with rushing student progress. In my experience of teaching I realized that students are different from each other some learn faster than others. If students don't understand a key or a chord I will show them an example by playing a specific chord or song piece. But also I will even practice with the student so they don't feel like they are being put in the spotlight by themselves. Read More

I knew I wanted to be a music teacher as early as elementary school. I began my teaching experience as a Kindermusik educator; teaching music and movement to children birth -7 years old. I did this for 10 years before moving on to class room music, where I taught basic music theory at the young elementary level. During this time I began teaching private voice lessons in my home. I encourage my students to sing and not worry about making mistakes. Read More
