I'm very big on motivation. I tell my students from day one how great there doing and give them something to work towards. For example if I have a guitar student that really wants to be a lead guitarist I will play the solo of one of there favorite songs and teach them a small part of it or all of it if they are at an advanced level. I believe this is why my stufents never quit and always are excited to lesrn more because theres never a dull moment. Read More

For beginning students, I typically start with the basic essentials needed to get a feel for the instrument, and to read music. The reward of teaching is seeing a student progress and gain the skills needed to propel themselves forward musically. I work hard to help students develop and cultivate their passion for music and playing music well for others. Nothing is more important in music than finding love and joy for playing one's instrument. Through setting consistent goals and acknowledging a student's accomplishments I help fuel a student's motivation to play through steady progress. Read More

I began teaching bass lessons when I was in high school. I taught bass for 11 years as an adjunct instructor at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. I also worked as a clinician at the UAB Jazz Summit. Many of my students have gone on to play professionally and a few have gone on to become music teachers themselves. The most important aspect to teaching in my opinion is to make sure that the students remain engaged and excited enough to spend the time that will make them successful. Read More
Instruments: Piano
I began teaching private piano lessons when I was a junior in college. I taught all ages including children, teenagers, and adults. I encourage consistent and regular practicing with my students because that is how one succeeds at playing an instrument. I teach students based on their own individual development and pace, but I do push them so that they can improve and become better musicians. I always schedule a recital at the end of the semester and encourage students to perform in festivals and competitions so that they have opportunities to perform. Read More
