It was a great honor. Late into highschool I was accepted at the DCI CADETS for 3rd trumpet part. This is the second best drum corp (at the time) in the world out of over a dozen different division 1 corps. I construct lessons from a variety of resources, including reference texts and modern independent instructional apps, but do not follow one source for direction of lessons. I find the interests of a student and construct exercises that will allow them to play closer to what they most enjoy, while also disciplining in drumming fundamentals. I love teaching so I want my students to have the same love for learning. I convey this to the student by only giving the student what they can handle. I keep it challenging but also fun. I do this by letting the student choose their own music. I always add something fun into each lesson which keeps each student interested.
