I graduated from Georgia State University in 2017 with a Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance. I was able to perform a wide variety of music with many diverse groups of musicians, all while learning about education and how to teach others. I started playing Violin when I was in second grade after I went to an orchestra performance and fell in love with the music. I've been in several orchestras since, like the Greater Miami Youth Symphony. I picked up several other instruments along my journey as well like guitar, bass, and drums. For all beginning piano students ages 5 to 13, I usually start with the Alfred D'Auberge Piano Course, Bk 1 and Notespeller Bk 1. Students then graduate to the Faber/Randall Piano Adventures Series, Course and Theory. I add the Dozen A Day exercise books when they start this level, beginning with the Prep Book. After we have established the basics on the kit we start to work on rudiments, reading, grip (we will come back to grip a lot,) dynamics, and fills. I always try to provide purpose behind elements in a lesson, an explanation as to WHY we are working on something and HOW it will be used.
