Instruments: Piano
As I stated in the previous section, music has been a large part of my life since I can first remember. With almost 30 years of combined musical experience on three instruments (Piano, Guitar, Trombone), I've been exposed to countless types and styles of music. Furthermore, being selected to 8 All-State Ensembles has put me around some of the best minds the Midwest has to offer in music. In the past few years I began my self-owned, self-operated business specializing in piano performance for client events as well as piano instruction. Read More
Instruments: Voice Saxophone Flute Recorder Tuba
I grew up with a Pianist and Music Theory Professor as a mother; I learned to read music at the same time as I learned to read English. Music has never lost that early childhood sense of wonder for me, and so it's my primary goal to share that with others. More importantly, I want to help people of all ages develop their own musical voice and directive. So my teaching style is a combination of 2 things: Teaching a student how to practice (that is, improve their fundamental skill set towards mastery of an instrument) their instrument, and helping the student develop their musical identity and interests. I have been teaching casually in some form or another for close to 10 years. While I have not taught at a professional level, I have been teaching in many separate fields: arts, academics, and athletics to name a few. My experiences in multidisciplinary teaching has helped me gain an appreciation for all types of learners and developed skills for connecting with and teaching students of various learning styles. The primary lesson I have taken away from my teaching experience is that the most improvement is found in students with the desire to engage. Read More

I would always follow each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. For children, I would also offer a reward such as candy to boost their excitement and passion for learning piano. When it comes to piano theory, I would reward them with a sticker on their homework page that is completed on time. Read More

I have been teaching privately for the past 7 years and absolutely love it! I love helping my students achieve their goals weather that be concrete or abstract! I've been teaching classes and lessons at the university level for the past two years as well. I have mostly been teaching in trombone (all genres), jazz improvisation, ear training, and music theory but am comfortable teaching within many other concepts. I have been teaching piano on and off for the past 2 years and teach piano at a very beginning level. Read More
Instruments: Drums
I began teaching private lessons full time recently and have my own home studio for in-person and online Skype lessons. I always felt my passion was to become a teacher and I also have self-published my own drum rudiment book called "Learning Rudiments". I am a serious student of the drums as I regularly take online lessons, watch practice videos, and listen to drum teaching podcasts to pick up the latest advice. Read More
