My teaching methods are tailored to each student's indidvidual needs and expectaions for the duration of lessons. I have been a woodwind instructor since 2020, and I work with students of many different ages, from middle school to high school and beyond. I have played in almost every type of ensemble, from pit orchestras to jazz bands, and I have experience playing multiple styles in different venues. I like to start beginning students with the Rubank Elementary series of books. Along with the Rubank books, I like to also focus on music being covered in school, if applicable. For more advanced students, I focus on the mastery of scales, technique, intonation, and sound production. I like to use the Andersen etude series, but this will vary from student to student. Growing up in Memphis, I began playing the piano at age 6. After moving to bass guitar a few years later, I finally picked up my brother's acoustic guitar and never looked back. At Vanderbilt University, I studied music and English and began gigging professionally in Nashville while still finishing my degree.
