Instruments: Voice
I am a passionate and intuitive teacher who loves working with students to find their true singing voice. My interest in singing began in community college. I watched my peers perform on stage, singing on top of orchestras without using a microphone or any type of amplification and it made me want to know what it took to be able to replicate that. I found the human voice extremely fascinating and through the help of great voice teachers, I learned to sing efficiently. Read More

My teaching style is fast-paced, fun, and engaging. I integrate many musical styles and genres, from pop to classical to give my students a wide array of musical experiences. I believe in positive reinforcement and prioritize a student's social-emotional learning. Through music, my students will learn about the world, their community, and themselves. I focus on growth and not benchmarks to assess the success of my students. I also gig regularly on both instruments, allowing my students to have ample opportunities to watch me play. Read More

My first emphasis is that you have to like what you're playing. I really try to focus on what music gets the student excited. For some of them, it comes quickly. Others it might take a while, and that is okay. Once I find the switch that engages the student's interest, that is my focus. I really emphasize getting students to read music and also understand the key components of music theory, so that they understand what it is they are playing. Read More
Instruments: Drums
Learning the drums should be a fun and rewarding experience! I believe that learning to play different styles, playing along with a metronome/song and being able to read music are essential for all drummers. I ask students what style of music/bands they like and incorporate this into lessons. I break the lessons down into 3 sections: The first is where we warm up and play rudiments and technique exercises. Read More
Instruments: Violin
For beginning students that have already been studying through a school program or are already working with instructional material, I am more than happy to jump in and tailor my instruction accordingly. For students that have no musical background whatsoever, I can supply materials as I see fit, given the disposition of the student. Also, I am happy to create custom lesson plans (etudes and short studies) to meet the specific needs of novice students in an effort to increase the enjoyment and efficiency of the learning process. Instruments: Drums
For new students that are beginners, I find out what music they like and what made them gravitate towards the drums. This knowledge is vital, for it is the opening for what I can do to get the student to develop a true attachment and love for playing drums. I have seen many young musicians get overwhelmed and grow a detest for starting music lessons with an instructor that gives the student a formula for playing drums that is the opposite of what they actually desire to play. Instruments: Guitar
I began teaching quite early in my own guitar playing experience. Once I had the basics down, my friends would ask me to come to their house to show them how to play a few chords. It wasn't until close to 5 years ago when those friends kindly asked me to start teaching their children. It was then when I realized how much I loved teaching, so much in fact that I resigned from a cushy 9-5 office job to pursue teaching full time. Read More
