Hailing from Nigeria and now making waves in the vibrant music scene of New York City, I am Chidiebere Joseph Emmanuel, a percussionist whose beats resonate with cultural depth and artistic finesse. Under the tutelage of two esteemed Nigerian jazz icons, drummer Adewale Adeyemi and bass player Bright Gain, I honed my craft, gracing stages including the prestigious Lagos International Jazz Festival. My musical journey led me to Idaho State University, where I earned my Bachelor's degree in Commercial Music, broadening my horizons and enriching my repertoire. Read More
Instruments: Voice
When I have had people observe the lessons I teach, I have been told that I have a calm, cool, and collected teaching style. I am always rooting for my students to succeed, and am always striving to create a safe and fun learning environment. The thing that I love most about teaching voice is that everyone's voice is beautifully unique. I enjoy guiding each singer on their journey of singing and seeing where their hard work takes them. I adapt my lesson plan according to the student's level, interests and hobbies away from music. All beginner students start with an Essential Elements series of books to help them understand the process of actually playing their instrument. Once this has been achieved or if the student is already past this level, I like to inquire about what the student wants to learn and improve on. With this information, I give them resources or step by step guidelines to help them with their goal. Read More
Instruments: Clarinet
My first memories of teaching goesback to middle school when I would tutor the younger students in my classes! My love for teaching grew and throughout my college and post-college experience I taught clarinet lessons, music theory and appreciation to students of all ages. From working with Pre-K children through older adults, I make each lesson personal and an experience for each student. I am a classically trained conservatory clarinetist who has played with many orchestras and chamber ensembles throughout the Northeast. Read More
Instruments: Piano Trumpet Saxophone Clarinet
My teaching style is based on a balance between fun and progression. I have a loose, fun-loving personality that can also be balanced with the seriousness to get things done. I ensure that the student knows that I care, both about their goals, and them as an individual. I use a lot of humor and wit in my lessons to help make sure my students are relaxed. I also provide critical feedback that both allows students to improve while at the same time highlight a student's strengths. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice
I encourage students who only play piano to try accompanying other musicians or themselves in order to strengthen their skills, and I encourage singers to perform with a local choir, try out for school musicals, and generally volunteer their musical abilities in their community. However, I understand and fully support any student's desire to simply work on their skills for personal enjoyment. My teaching style reflects a strong emphasis on practice, relaxation, and courage.
