I have been teaching privately since the age of 16. Over the years I have accumulated a lot of educational materials and methods, and I like to cater these to the needs of my students. My experiences in recording, touring, and working in pit orchestras has helped me understand some of the essential elements of performing on percussion instruments. Whatever it is that my students would like to do, I try to motivate them to continue working towards those goals. Read More
Instruments: Piano Keyboard
I have been teaching piano since I first graduated with a Bachelor's. Starting in my Hometown of Palo Alto, CA, I moved to New York in 2011, and have since been teaching a growing roster of students. The important part of the musical process, is learning how to be a self-teacher. I give students some methods to practice and encourage them to find the motivation within that allows the to keep with their studies. Read More

I began teaching music when I was 18, I began teaching private drums and piano lessons in my home studio, I've been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 7 years. Upon graduation, I got my first music teacher position at Rishon Lezion conservatory, I taught private saxophone, flute, drums, and piano lessons as well as group music theory lessons and directed students ensembles. I have learned through the years what a great impact a teacher as on his students and how important it is to give students a fun, encouraging experience. Read More
Instruments: Flute Music
Always start with the basics to build upon a strong foundation. For beginners, I typically recommend the Rubank series (now part of the Hal Leonard Corporation), likely the Rubank Elementary Method, or E. Wagner Foundation to Flute Playing, depending upon what level they've already achieved. I teach both to the book and to the student's needs preferences; thus, we may progress on a page-by-page basis, covering approximately 1 book page per week with a weekly 45-minute lesson to review and then progress, or focus on areas the student needs to strengthen, such as practicing long-tones to improve tone strength and quality and using the book lessens only as a supplement. I like to lay a foundation for what musical notes are and how they relate to the instrument. If we're on guitar I will draw a piano keyboard and give the student the guitar string names and make them figure out the rest of the notes. Then I teach them what chords are and, now that they know their way around a fretboard, they can build the chords themselves. While most students aren't total beginners and won't need all of this groundwork to be laid by me, I've found that almost everyone has gaps in knowledge, more often than not when it comes to actual note names and the music theory behind the instrument. Instruments: Voice
I have been teaching voice for almost 20 years now. I have found that it doesn't matter the age if you have a love of singing then you can learn. I have had many students and it's so much fun to watch them learn and grow and find out that everyone has a voice and is capable of singing. Each student is a bit different and part of the fun is learning how to help them move forward whether through vocal exercises, ear training, learning how to breathe or just giving them the confidence they need to sing out loud.
