I think the most effective and the shortest way to learn something is to approach it as a game. Thus, the process of learning the ideology of piano touch and phrasing should involve as many games as possible. However, this does not apply to further process of learning as music is one of the most complicated forms of art and it demands deep emotional and conceptual approach. The games of the first stages should help students to develop their creativity, musical imagination and skills to interpret emotions. Read More

I can make an original curriculum tailored towards your individual goals. For beginner students who are children, I teach solfege for learning Absolute Pitch, which is connected to playing Western music. Achieving aural skills by singing, and getting sight-reading ability is one of the most important skills in learning to play piano easily. For adult beginners, I also recommend mastering sight-reading, which is how to read pitch, rhythm and length. Read More

I enjoy sharing the joy of making music with my students. I studied piano performance at Jacob School of Music and piano pedagogy at Longy School of Music (Cambridge, MA). Born into a musical family, I grew up playing music and ensembles as a family. I also played cello in school orchestra and joined choir as an adult. I have served as an accompanist for singers and instrumentalists in music school, church and private concerts. Read More

I would say my second best quality as a teacher is being able to teach the theory behind the musical they are learning. I mainly teach voice, guitar, and piano, but through those styles, I also teach jazz guitar, vocal improvisation, classical and jazz theory, ear training, vocal technique, and composition and arranging. I want to be able to cover as many areas of music that a student is interested in. Read More

For beginning students I prefer to use either Alfred's, Mel Bay, or Hal Leonard method books. I generally stay away from method books that use guitar tablature because I find that student will prefer to read the tablature instead of standard musical notation. Tablature is a good way to easily show how guitar parts are played, but is not useful when teaching standard notation, music theory, harmony, etc. In addition to using a method book, I will also teach the student popular songs, which is a great way to start teaching chords and song structure in addition to keeping the lesson fun and the student engaged.
