My teaching with experience is quite vast. I have taught music in both the classroom, as a band and choral director. I taught Music History, Theory, Global Music that is music from all Countries. I have taught and facilitated Music Classes with fellow Musicians throughout the State Of Connecticut which included Private Lessons and Ensemble playing. My training as a music teacher is expansive as I have a Masters Degree with a 3.4 in my complete studies. Read More

Hello! I have enjoyed teaching children, competing, accompanying for universities, studying music theory, playing for weddings and nursing homes, and playing at my church for the past eleven years. My piano experience spans over 20 years now, having included exciting opportunities such as the 2016 New Years jazz concert in London at Codagen Hall (Queen Elizabeth wrote everyone a letter thanking them for helping with the celebration!). These past several years have taught me that teaching is an entirely different privilege, skill, and joy to me as I grow in my musicianship alongside my students. Read More

I try to keep the student as interested as possible, some have shorter attention spans then others and for them maybe i will do 30 minutes instead of 45 minutes. others who are really into it and do not want to leave i may teach them for an hour and that often turns into 2 or 3 hours of just jamming and having fun at no extra cost because without students a maestro is nothing but a musician playing music. i love to play along with students so they are more prepared when they go out and make music with others musicians and they can stay in time with a drummer more easily. My teaching experience has been incredibly rewarding and I have a deep love for teaching. I believe that knowledge is best imparted when it is shared with enthusiasm and passion, and I strive to make my lessons engaging and enjoyable for my students. I also recognize the importance of love and compassion in education, as it can help foster a positive learning environment. My teaching philosophy focuses on building students' independent study habits, so that they can become self-sufficient learners. Read More

Depending on the instrument that the student studies and how old they are is how approach teaching them. For example, my voice studentsalways start out learning the same techniques and warm-ups, but where we go from there is based on the age of the voice and how a person wants to learn. With Guitar and Piano I may use a book as a supplement to my teaching, but not as the focal point of my teaching because every learns differently andare ina different place in their journey. The beginning students always start in a book, which is usually John Thompson's "Teaching Little Fingers to Play", or for the older students, "Bastien's Book for Older Beginners." As they move along, the students often have an idea of what they want to play, and often bring me music, especially the adolescents. I can determine more upon working with the student over time. I definitely customize my lessons for each student, and don't compare one to the other. Some of them have been my students from early childhood to high school graduation. Read More

I like to create lessons in which students learn to read traditional music notation, develop technique, and play familiar tunes. I use musictheory.net to help student practice reading note names. The faster a student can read musical notation, the faster the student can pick up new pieces. To develop technique, I want students to lean scales and arpeggios. Sometimes, we use a technique book to develop muscle memory, and other times technical exercises are created based on the tricky musical passages of solo or ensemble pieces. Read More
