For students of any level, I tend to always focus on mastering breathing and classical technique. I believe that it is imperative that students develop this way as it is fundamental to any true vocalist. My methods are quite particular to the individual and their natural strengths and weaknesses, but I approach every student with a tried and true structure that leads to fast and noticeable results. The African percussion that Phil Collins incorporated into this movie's score was enough to send me on the path to fulfill a college-level education in music. I do research for each individual student so that the correct repertoire is chosen! For beginning students who are ages 7-12, I begin with folk songs and Disney songs. These have simpler melodies and engaging text that help younger students stay interested.
