I provide Beginner to Intermediate lessons in voice and piano. I am a professional singer/songwriter/recording artist with 10 years of training in voice and 12 years of training in piano. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Business from Anderson University (Anderson, Indiana) where I studied voice with Dr. Jeffrey Ballard and piano with Professor Ken Chan.By taking voice lessons with me, you will increase your vocal range, learn correct breathing methods and healthy practice/warm-up exercises, and gain confidence in your performance skills, all while singing the songs and music styles YOU enjoy.With piano lessons, you will learn beginner music theory (including scales, chords, time signatures, key signatures, etc.), exercises to increase dexterity, and how to play the songs YOU want to play. For stringed instruments, I uses the Suzuki method for teaching the basic repertory of the instruments. This method is an ear training method in which the student plays by ear. It starts out very simple so students of all ages can learn and progress very quickly. I've been teaching woodwinds and strings for about 8 years now, to students of all ages and abilities. In that time, I've worked with students making their very first sounds, all the way to helping my students successfully audition for university music programs (often receiving scholarship!). My training and certification in Music Therapy gives me an additional perspective on how music and musical ideas can be used to improve and assist all aspects of life, and in particular I enjoy working with students who possess learning or developmental difficulties.
