For piano, I use Faber instructional books for piano. I teach music theory which include but not limited to scales, rhythm, etc. I give instruction on music vocabulary and literature. Furthermore, students learn some music history which includes the different eras and composers. Also, I teach vocal pedagogy which includes but not limited to breathing and phonation. For younger students who are children, I usually start with Faber Piano Adventures. Once the student has worked in fundamentals and get a better understanding of the instrument, I will begin introducing solo repertoire appropriate for his or her level. I also like to working on scales and sight reading with my students, I spend some time at the beginning of the lesson helping them get a solid grasp on these two elements. Read More
