I'm a Massachusetts based pianist who specializes in both traditional and contemporary solo and chamber music. I have given performances throughout Japan, as well as solo and chamber appearances in Boston and Salzburg. Additionally, I have participated in numerous competitions, including Nakatsu An Die Music, and was awarded 1st prize, as well as receiving the Jury prize for the Gyula kiss International Competition. My students love the Faber Faber "Adventures in Music". These method books, in my opinion, have some of the most innovative and motivating pieces. This method gives the student a solid foundation in theory focusing on scales, and used in concert with other materials bring the student to a very proficient level. I also use supplementary materials such as Dozen A Day, Hanon, and Czerny. Martha Mier books for young children, especially her "Imagine" books are unique and inspiring. Read More

For beginning students who are children, I utilize the Alfred and Bastien lesson book series. When the student has grasped basic fundamentals, I move away from the method books and into appropriate solo repertoire. I typically use Mel Bay's Modern Guitar Method for beginning guitarists and the Suzuki Method for beggining pianists. For students first learning music, I make sure to include solo pieces that the student is interested in and other custom written fundamental lessons in addition to these resources. Once they reach the point that they have a solid grasp of their instrument, we focus more closely on learning pieces and concepts that reflect musical situations in which the students sees themselves; be it playing solo, playing and singing, accompanying other instrumentalists or vocalists, or playing in an ensemble or band.
