In middle school, I began performing and teaching music during the summers at Vacation Bible School for children ages 3-10. Throughout high school, as a member of a variety of bands, I performed at a wide array of venues around New England. During this time, I ventured into song writing and musical arrangement. I also spent some time giving private trombone, bass, and guitar lessons in high school. Along with teaching music, I have much experience working with students ages 2-18 as a summer camp sports director, youth director at a teen center, and a soccer coach and trainer. Read More

The goal of my teaching is to develop a lifelong enjoyment of music through the mastery of graduated levels of skills and improvisation, while placing a high priority on a one-to-one relationship that promotes fun, success and high self-esteem. I want to help as much as possible in your sons and daughters (or yours) musical development. Sometimes just a new song will provide a lift - there are so many possibilities. Read More

From a young age I have been an active teacher. Advanced for my age I vividly remember tutoring my classmates in the Fourth grade. Throughout the rest of my schooling I served in some sort of volunteer tutor capacity, helping classmates and younger students. While in undergrad at DePauw University I served as an Orientation/First-Year Seminar Mentor, helping first year students adjust to campus academic and social life. I was employed for 3 years at the local Presbyterian Church as the adult and childrens choir conductor. Read More

I'm a dedicated and hard-working teacher that works to provide a consistently growing love and appreciation for music in her students. In 2016, I graduated with my Bachelor of Arts degree in Clarinet Performance at Morehead State University, and in April 2018 I graduated with my Master of Music degree at the Cincinnati-Conservatory of Music. I have performed in various professional and semi-professional musical settings including: 2 years in the Cave Run Symphony Orchestra, playing out of clarinet/flute/saxophone books for multiple musicals, and most recently traveling around the Midwest states playing clarinet for the Guerrilla Chamber Collective (a chamber group dedicated to performing new music by up-and-coming composers). For all of my beginning students I use the Suzuki method. I am a very fast paced teacher, and I hold all of my students to high standards. As my students get into more advanced music, I select solo literature that best fits their musical abilities. For my vocal students I select music that is appropriate for them from the very beginning. For my male vocal students, I coach them through the voice change, which is a rewarding experience for me. My students learn songs both by ear and by reading music. I teach all styles of music and incorporate both classical and modern repertoire into the lessons. I work with my students on building musicality in their playing/singing by changing dynamics, phrasing, and musical articulations. Wedo a series of simple physical stretches to find relaxation in the entire body, head and neck. For my voice students, I emphasize the importance of breathing technique. Read More

My first conversation with students is what they would like to learn. This doesnt have to be specifically about one instrument, but what they would like to become as a musician. What music do the students enjoy? What inspires them? Who are their musical influences? I have taught students to have developmental issues. I have taught gifted students. The biggest teaching method I have is to be flexible because no two students learn alike. Read More
