I am a freelance cellist who records and performs frequiently with local artist in the Oklahoma City Metro area. I also perform regularly with the Oklahoma City String Quartet. In 2015 I graduated from the Oklahoma City University with a Master's Degree in Cello Performance, and in 2013 from the Southern Nazarene University with a Bachelor of Science in Piano and Cello Performance. I base my teaching methods on the student I am teaching. For students that are children at a beginner level, I typically begin with the essential elements of creating vocal foundation which I draw from many sources. Once we have set a good foundation, we tend to begin working on repertoire that is appropriate for the level at which they are singing, using those songs as learning opportunities. I am warm and vulnerable, I find being open is the best way to develop my students' trust. Trust is key. It is important to me that students progress at their own pace however slow or fast that may be. I help set goals for development that are challenging but realistic. Voice Lessons: I start my lessons with vocal warmups and excercises to help strengthen and develop a students vocal abilities. After vocalizing, I begin working on the repertoire that I have assigned the prior week. The songs that each student will sing will depend on what style he/she may be interested in performing or studying. I always choose age appropriate material, and a piece that the student will enjoy. Seems I've always been a teacher, even when I didn't realize it; from my school days as first chair helping other students, through college where I taught for the Southern Nevada School of Music and at Vesleys Music Conservatory, through the time I received my first certified public school teaching position and after that as a business owner with employees, I have been teaching and learning.
