For beginner piano students, I have found the Faber Piano Adventures books to be quite successful. For other lessons, I try to tailor them to each student and find materials that fit with their unique music goals. I have drawn from a variety of music resources, as well as my own knowledge, to help students learn through their own unique way of thinking. I believe it is important to build off of the skills that students already have, and to find ways to support them as they grow in other areas. Read More

I strive to have each student grow their passion and love for music. To remain curious and fearless in trying new things. I enjoy working with students to set goals such as - performing in a recital, auditioning for a production or competition, for singing and playing music they never thought they would be able to. I create a friendly judgment free learning environment. I do expect a student to be committed to their lessons and practice, but build this with care and compassion. Read More

Of course, every student is different, and an integral part of my philosophy involves getting to know each student so that I may learn their creative preferences, strengths, and weaknessness. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs and will never stop till our desired success is achieved. Read More

I like to spend a little bit of time assessing what level a student is at so I can appropriately guide them to where they need and want to be. Early on I stress the importance of self evaluation and critical thinking, as it is priceless to be able to teach oneself using these analytical skills. Learning music is like building a pyramid that will never have a peak, blocks are added again and again and always built on the progress of the past but there is never a point where a student has "completed" music. My passion for teaching began in my Junior year of high school in 2011-2012, when I spent 6 months teaching guitar lessons to elementary school students at a local YMCA after-school program. With a class size of approximately 10-15 students, I learned many valuable teaching methods for students of all backgrounds and learning methods. Later that year, I said goodbye to my students to move to Boston and attend Berklee College of Music, however, in summer of 2014, I revived my passion for teaching when I started a saxophone lesson program at Brighton's All 'Bout Christ church.
