Instruments: Piano Voice

I teach a relaxed, free style. I want my students to feel comfortable to move around the room. Our work in the studio is experimental. I am happy with whatever progress we make each week, as long as there is some progression. I particularly emphasize this point with my youngest voice students. All progression is a victory. I am passionate about what I teach because music teaches you a lot about yourself. Read More

I try to provide a balance between structure and flexibility. The student and his or her well being is more important than the music, yet the music Fuels the lesson. My goal is that students walk out of their lessons feeling more uplifted and inspired than when they walked in. Music lessons are life lessons. The commitment to practice little by little to achieve a goal, the joy in improving step by step, the satisfaction of accomplishment, yet the challenge to continually get better...these lessons translate to all of life. I was a middle school band director and general music teacher in a public school for ten years. I instructed beginning students as well as advanced 8th graders in all brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments. Directing and leading concert band, marching band, drum line, and jazz band required me to remain in communication with parents and the community, keep organization and discipline in the classroom, and engage the students with well-prepared lessons and quality band literature. Instruments: Piano Organ Keyboard

As I mentioned before, I evaluate each student’s starting ability and talent and devise a starting point accordingly.  I strive to motivate and inspire each student so that they begin to love the music they play and understand it well.  I teach each student based on his/her ability and potential and see that they make progress at their own pace.  I encourage progress and results as well as enjoyment of practicing and playing music.  I emphasize techniques and every musical ingredient necessary to achieve a superior, artistic level of playing. Instruments: Piano

If a student comes in as a beginner, I will teach them the notes first, then reading on the staff and chords. I try to encourage everyone to learn how to read music, but certain students prefer to learn pieces quicker, in which case I can speed up the process by telling them the notes to play. I constantly ask the students for the piece that they want to play themselves and I encourage them to try them even if they feel like it appears too difficult. Read More

I'm a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. I graduated from Temple University in 1988, with a Master's of Music degree in the area of Percussion Performance, and Jazz emphasis. During my career at Temple I had the opportunity play with the Philadelphia Orchestra, and at various venues including in New York at Carnegie Hall, as an example. I obtained my NJ Teacher Certification for the grades of K-12 in 2004, from Rowan University. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
