I can teach and speak more broadly now about music, not as an elitist activity but as a language vital to humans whether it is "spoken" or heard. I placed the highest priority on the teacher-student relationship. I believe that maintaining a good teacher-student relationship can foster a students music learning. A student will be motivated to learn and practice if they like their teacher. Also, they will be eager to share their own ideas and interpretations of the music. Therefore, I will remain a not-too-close relationship with my student. If having a too close relationship with students, teachers may not become an authority to their students anymore, and receive less respect from them. Read More

I try to cater my lessons to the interest of my students. If a pupil’s passion for music can be harnessed, then developing musical skills can be a simple process. I have a wide variety of material I teach from, including Ted Reed’s syncopation, George Lawrence Stone’s Stick Control for the Snare Drummer and basic piano literature. I take the great things about the Suzuki Method and use them (fun, creativity, by-ear learning, group jams). Then I take the things I don't like about the method and disregard them (pre-established repetoire, no composition or improv). I teach kids how to concentrate, how to teach themselves, how to ignore distractions, and the philosophy for joyful performance without nervousness. I began piano lessons in the 2nd grade, and studied flute and guitar, and finally settled on playing French Horn in High School. I took lessons from a horn player in the Detroit Symphony. I majored in French horn and orchestral conducting at the Rubin Academy in Tel-Aviv, Israel, and completed my Undergraduate degree at the University of Nebraska-Omaha.
