My style of teaching is relaxed, patient and encouraging but goal oriented. I want  students to enjoy their lessons in a relaxed fashion while keeping them motivated to achieve their potential. I set realistic goals: short, mid and long term. This aids them not become overwhelmed with material or expectations. Read More

What I like to do in my studio is, set realistic goals for the student. I use "challenges" to help students achieve their goals. And reward them when they achieve them. I like using a lot of games as well to make piano learning fun. So I teach a lot of theory aspects using games with timers, and flash cards, dry erase dices and prizes when goals are meant. Some of my student favorites are the 30 piece challenge, Karate Scale challenge, speedy finger challenge and much more. Read More

Instruments: Piano Saxophone

For beginning students I focus on the fundamentals of playing a saxophone: Setting up your instrument, reading music, breath training, and embouchure. Once the student progresses to a bit higher level, we start with rudimentary songs that allow the student to work on playing full songs. For more musically experienced students new to saxophone, I still start with the same foundational training and set up, but have a more rapid approach to having them play full songs in genre's they enjoy. I’m an enthusiastic piano instructor very much used to dealing with kids. Having my own new son, I’m looking to settle into piano teaching and finish a degree in Music Performance. My passion is to share the beauty of music with each student I undertake and to motivate them to be their best self and project it through their practice and songs. Though music performance is a favorite past time of mine, teaching is where I really feel I’m called to. Read More

When will I start to see results?
The amount of time in which a student will start seeing results depends on a few important factors. They are: 1. Student's dedication and amount of practice time. 2. Teacher's ability to present material, and to spark student's interest (which helps tremendously with point 1) 3. Frequency of lessons. You will see faster results (especially at the beginner's level) with twice-a-week lessons as opposed to once-a week lessons. Normally, first simple songs can be played (and read) by a beginner student withing the first few lessons, then difficulty of music pieces gradually increases and withing a few months a student would normally be able to play both hands simultaneously.

How do I know if my child is ready to start lessons?
You can start at any age, as soon as the child is ready for classes intellectually and psychologically. You can start with someone even at 4 years old, but sometimes it is better to wait and start classes at 7-8 or even 9 years old. Despite the fact that all children are different, there are still age-related features that somehow affect the educational process. For example, if a child begins to study at the age of 7, his education will advance faster and more efficiently than if he were to start at 4. It's a matter of every individual student and his/her ability. Booking a trial lesson and hearing an honest teacher's opining would give you a better idea about whether or not your child is ready for a lesson.

What advice do you have about practicing effectively?
When practicing piano fragments need to be repeated a many many times. But you must also alternate repetition with the allocation of time for the work of the subconscious. This means, ultimately, during a night's sleep. It is when your work begins to dream of you that you begin to memorize it. The dream is the result of this integrative work of the unconscious. This leads to an amazing practical consequence: In order to learn something in the most effective way, work on it with full concentration for a certain period of time (15 to 20 minutes is more than enough), and then forget about it until the next day. The next day, repeat the same procedure for the same period of time and forget again until the next day. Repeat this for as many days as necessary in order to play a given passage in such a way that you cannot play it incorrectly even if you try. I assure you that you will reach such a moment in a maximum of seven days, usually much less. This requires incredible discipline and consistency. But the method works like magic.
