I’ve consistently taught students in my home studio and at the Young Virtuoso Music Academy over decades. I firmly believe that regular, structured practice is essential for younger students, as it fosters steady progress and helps cultivate a genuine love for the piano. Encouraging discipline while ensuring lessons remain enjoyable is a cornerstone of my teaching philosophy. I incorporate a blend of classical repertoire and modern music into lessons, as this balance keeps students engaged and motivated to practice. Read More

So we study chords and rhythms, as they relate to the songs the client enjoys. I like to insert a five to ten minute practice before digging into the main lesson. This involves playing scales or running chord progressions or learning about, for example, the circle of 5ths or 4ths. I do teach more advanced levels, in which we learn how to substitute chords and arrange songs. I alwyas build goals into a program as it feels really good to achieve and move on to the next goal! Through patience and a customized approach I was able to reach him in ways that, according to his parents, no other teacher was able to do. Read More

Typically, I favor using traditional curriculum for beginning students (Alfred, Faber, Bastian). As a student progresses we typically incorporate Clemeneti sonatinas and the students favorite pop/modern songs. When a student achieves an advanced level of difficulty curriculum is purchased depending on the student's goals, college aspirations, and learning objectives. I typically administer a Classical Method of education, whether in private lessons or the classroom. It is my hope that time in my classroom encourages dialectic conversation and reaps gains in every learning situation. Read More
