I am a passionate performer and educator based in Brooklyn, NY. I began teaching when I was in High School, and that led to a fourteen-year career in independent schools. I have taken students all over the world — Japan, Bolivia, Ireland, and Italy were some notable trips — to share their passion for music with like-minded and diverse audiences. I believe every student should be working towards a public performance, and I am committed to preparing students of all ages to share their music with the world. Read More

My teaching style is all about connecting with the student in a way that is fun, engaging and fulfilling as we work on their musical abilities and goals together. I set goals for each lesson so that the student realizes they are making progress every week which in turn inspires them to greater and greater heights. It is very important to me that each student be approached as an individual. Read More

For children I use the "Teaching Little Fingers to Play" series by John Thompson. I do this because because the top of each page has a diagram of how the notes on the staves as well as the diacritical marks are played on the piano. I create my own lesson plans based off of the individual student. For voice students, we usually warm up, do technical exercises working on varying registers and techniques, and then work on repertoire. I often find the passages in a particular song that the student is struggling with and focus in on those, finding exercises to guide the student. For instrumental students, I work on a lot of music theory and reading, for students of all levels and ages. Read More

It's all about the student's interests. I first gauge what styles they are interested in performing, and then implement the proper methods of teaching those styles. Depending on their ability level, I will simultaneously implement necessary techniques while generating the repertoire so that when it comes time for a recital, they will be ready. Lessons will generally begin with warmups, followed by choosing pieces to perform or developing pieces that have already been chosen. Read More

My focus is on creating individualized lesson plans that address the students particular interests and needs. With consistent practice at recommended intervals, my carefully designed curriculum prepares students to quickly advance from day one by equipping them with the necessary tools and scaffolding to build a comprehensive understanding of the piano. In addition to learning note-reading, rhythm interpretation, and proper technique, students are exposed to theory, aural training, music appreciation, and collaborative courses with peers to help cultivate an immersive environment in which to thrive.
