Voice: I focus on strengthening vocal consistency with healthy vocal practices. I also want to strengthen the musicianship of singers by developing initial sight-reading and other aural skills. A lesson typically would consist of a third of vocalizing/warmups, and two-thirds of working on one to two songs to train the voice and build repertoire material. I base my teaching style on the individual student and how they learn.  Some students learn more by rote, others learn more by oral and others learn more by understanding theory.  I always incorporate proper technique so that the student developes as quickly as possible. For those students who like working from a more traditional sense I work primarily with the John Thompsen and Bastien Piano Methods. Other students, especially students that start at an older age I work immediately by having them play familiar songs and melodies and as their technique improves providing them with more difficult music to play.
