Instruments: Piano Keyboard
I use the Faber & Faber or Alfred teaching methods with students who are beginners. These methods teach note reading skills, music theory, aural and ear training skills, sight reading, and transposition. If you are a transfer student and have worked with a previous instructor, I'm happy to use the method books you're familiar with. For intermediate and advanced players, the focus is on technique and piano repertoire. I expect all of my students to practice regularly and will help you strategize the best way to incorporate successful practice methods into your training. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice Keyboard
For my younger piano students, I am a fan of the Faber and Faber piano books. The method books applies to my philosphy of teaching rhythm in syllables (ta, ti-ti, etc.) and found success with all my students in their abilty to read notes and play well. I also love their arrangements on their jazz, rock and roll, and popular series. I also try to include composition in their learning to make it fun and challenging. Read More
Instruments: Piano Cello Drums Orchestral Percussion
Hi! My name is Peter. I'm a drum set/percussion, cello, and piano instructor. I grew up in a very musical family, my father is an opera singer and drum set player, my mother is a conductor and piano teacher, and my brother is a violinist and pianist, so you can see why I've grown up to play all three instruments! I have recently moved to the New Jersey / New York music scene from Arizona to pursue my performance and teaching goals. Read More
Instruments: Piano Drums Keyboard
I am comfortable playing jazz styles as well as more rock oriented styles on the drum set. I have been playing piano for years and have a strong background in music theory which allows me to teach sight reading and theory on piano. I am comfortable teaching piano out of my apartment (I have a Casio CDP-130 keyboard), or coming to you. I make an effort to get to know my students goals and current ability on their instrument so that I can play to their strengths and improve their weaknesses. Read More
Instruments: Piano Saxophone Clarinet Synthesizer Music
Currently, my teaching experience involves substituting for a drum class in one of the New York City boroughs, and assisting musicians or other campers when needed at Usdan Summer Camp for the Arts when I worked there as a Music Staff Intern. I have worked with multiple teachers throughout my musical journey and experience, and I have since picked up the teaching styles and methods that they taught me. I now want to use my experience and what I have learned to help other students or aspiring musicians, and help show them how fun and enjoyable playing their respective instrument or instruments can be.
