I am a professional drummer/composer/educator living in NYC. I grew up in Dallas, Texas and began playing classical piano at age 4. I was given a drumset when I was 9 and switched to drums full time when I was 11. After high school, I attended University of North Texas to pursue a Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Performance. In 2011, I moved to Brooklyn to perform full time. I later decided to go back to school and completed my Master of Arts degree in Music Performance at City College of New York. Read More

I am a life time piano player. Start music at the age of 6, play piano ever since. Was performing extensively as a gifted young pianist. Stop concert activity later at time. Moved to USA from Moscow (Russia) in 1990. Completed my education at Lehman College with MS in Music pedagogy in 2006. Was on board with "MUSIKA" during 2003-2005 (not sure). Teach piano at Bronx Conservatory of Music and Bronx House Music school. Read More

Incidentally, I started teaching when I was still learning myself; in grade-school, on the recorder. I learned early on that my ability to play by memory and through ear afforded me a stark intuitive advantage over peers my own age; naturally, they came to me during our shared lessons to inquire about my talent. While neither of my abilities was necessarily a teachable factor, they did endow me with the ability to "know" my music - through a bit of compositional translation, I was able to share tidbits of knowledge among my colleagues. I'm a musician who is working every day to perfect my craft and love to meet students where they are in their musical journey to help them achieve their own goals with music. I graduated from Skidmore College as a Music major in 2020. I am primarily a jazz musician, but I have experience in a wide variety of genres, including classical, rock, blues, funk, pop, and more. I like to focus on the most universal aspects of music so that my students and I are prepared to participate in music making of all kinds! Read More

My teaching style is versatile but with distinct steps. The first step is exposition, the second is reason and the third is connection. There is something so rewarding for me but more importantly for the student when their face opens, they say (and realize): "Oh! I get it...." The catharsis of experiencing music, understanding music and connecting with the music. This is the ideal sequence that I hope to achieve with any and all students. Read More

For younger children I typically begin with the Alfred Piano Lessons series as I find the songs very accessible, catchy, and the format of the book to be engagaing for kids. The series is also very suited to a complete beginner in its introduction of new concepts and will have the child already playing songs by the end of the first lesson. For older students I will skip over easy material in an effort to simply fill in the gaps of what they already know or can learn quickly and focus on moving them more into music they are interested in playing.
