I try to create a relaxed, fun, trustworthy and focused, environment for the student. I like to ask them what’s interesting and appealing to them, then we start the lesson. When I teach at my studio and children come directly from school I give them a snack if they haven’t had any. Children cannot concentrate if they are hungry. I always incorporate Music Theory in my lessons as well as improvisation. i am familiar with the Royal Conservatory of Music technical requirements and find them necessary to any student wanting to become proficient at piano/keyboard playing. I use may online worksheets for theory, improvisation and fun repertoire as well. i am open to the needs of the student but also have a structured method of teaching so that all aspects of the music learning process is followed.
