I started to teach novice piano players while I was an undergraduate student at Cleveland Institute of Music. I’ve taught private lessons at both school studios and secondary music institutions in Ohio and Florida. My teaching experience towards college level students began at University of Florida in 2013, where I worked as a teaching assistant instructing Group Piano class, that covered subjects on functional keyboard skills, harmonization, sight reading and choral reading, major/minor scale, improvisation and chord progression. Iam an active educator and performer in the North Jersey area. I teach K-6 elementary general music in Midland Park, NJ, which was recently recognized by NAMM as one of the "Best Communities for Music Education 2014." Although I am a classically trained soprano, I work on a variety of different literature with my voice and piano students, including folk songs, pop music, musical theater and of course, classical. I believe that well-rounded musicians make good musicians! Read More

Instruments: Piano Drums Mallet Percussion Orchestral Percussion

For beginner students on drums I use Ted Reed's Syncopation and Stick Control by George Lawrence Stone. These books provide a great foundation for every drummer and once we put together a great foundation our potential greatly increases. I also assign a great deal of listening for my students from all areas of music. For more advanced students we do use Syncopation and Stick Control as well but there are a number of other great resources such as The New Breed by Gary Chester or Creative Coordination by Keith Copeland. Instruments: Piano Voice Mallet Percussion Keyboard

I strongly value theory and technical groundwork, but I also believe in guiding students toward the genres and compositions where they will find their own passion for music. With a solid foundation and an inner drive to keep playing, even beginner musicians can reach goals that may have previously seemed insurmountable. For beginners, we will start with the fundamentals and focus on pieces that they can master and enjoy as we work towards more complex repertoire and playing styles. Read More
