Books I use for teaching Piano is the Piano Adventures series of books by Nancy and Randall Faber, which is a great lesson book and a good basic piano method for beginners through intermediate level students. For guitar I use the Hal Leonard Incredible Chord Finder and the Warren Nunes Jazz guitar Rhythm and Background Chords and the Solo Patterns book. Also For both Piano and Guitar I have accumulated many charts and Berklee School of Music pages to use as students start to progress. Read More

Teaching has always been a joy to me and I enjoy having children experience the understanding and love of music It is my hope that the student enjoy what they are doing and learning  Should they not understand I try to find out what is difficult  Should I see that a student is not practicing that is a distinguishing factor I have worked with children with learning disabilities as well so I use various methods to attempt to have the child or adult grasp the concepts and be able to perform     Read More

I am an encouraging, nurturing, and motivating piano teacher. While I believe scales, chords, and arpeggios are practical exercises, I don't teach these ad nausea. Unless a student is preparing for an exam (ABRSM, RSM, or GUILD) these excercises as well as Czerny, and Hanon can be an advantageous starting point to getting warmed up but definitely not a means to an end. I would classify myself as a teacher that motivates and encourages through humor but I do expect my students to improve on a weekly basis and can tell if they practiced or not! Read More

I love music, and I love seeing my students grow through their own musical success! We start our first lessons with a foundation of basic musical ideas, which focus on connecting the keyboard to the written notes. In addition to developing a good ear, I believe that a strong music reading foundation is key to my students' success. We set weekly and monthly goals, and encourage students to try something new each lesson. Read More

For beginning students who are children, I typically start with the Suzuki Method and playing by ear. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire on sheet music appropriate for their level of performance. It is important to stress the fundamentals of technique for my beginner students before just playing music. I like to incorporate music theory within their lessons, so not only are they able to hear a piece of music and can start playing but can also read sheet music that is put in front of them. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
