Instruments: Piano Organ Synthesizer
I have been playing the piano since I was six years old. Originally from Israel, I studied Jazz for two years and then immersed myself in classical piano. I became a professional musician during that time and recorded piano to records. I came to New York in 2009 to start my studies at the City College of New York, where I have graduated from with the highest honors (Phi Beta Kappa). Read More
Instruments: Piano Trumpet Saxophone Flute Clarinet Bass Guitar Recorder Double Bass Music
For beginning woodwind students, I have had success using the Rubank method books as a starter. Alongside a method book, I like to work on material chosen by the student, as well as my own supplemntal exercises. It is important for the student to understand the musical concepts associated with the repertoire, as well as focusing on performing well. I also prefer to have my students keep a practice log book, in order to track their progress. For piano and music theory, I like to use the John Thompson method for beginner students, and the Bastien Piano Literature series for more advanced students. Read More
Instruments: Piano Guitar Drums Conga Latin Percussion Music Djembe
As mentioned in my methods, I customize my lesson plans based on my students goals and needs as a musician. I try to balance out the importance of theory and understanding music notation with having fun and working on songs or techniques that the students particularly desires to play. I take the time to ensure that the student thoroughly understands concepts and songs before moving on. Though I also will take breaks to try something new to keep the student actively engaged. Instruments: Piano Violin Music
I have been teaching for 5 years to a wide range of ages. I take an individualistic approach to teaching, tailoring my lessons to my students. I teach violin for all levels and beginner/intermediate piano. I encourage all my students to learn how to read music and have a basic understanding of theory. I prefer a mix of a musical and technical approach and encourage a slow but steady timeline for learning. Read More
Instruments: Piano Cello Drums Orchestral Percussion
My approach to teaching is completely different for each and every student. First and foremost, I first try to understand the student's pace and his/her previous knowledge in the respective instrument. That way, I can assign personalized practice routines to get them started. From there, I start to set goals, push their potential, and leap towards challenges that pushes the student's passion and curiosity. Ultimately, the goals I set for myself as a teacher is to provide the student with the ability to practice smart, diligently, and push their own creative minds into the music. Read More
Instruments: Piano Saxophone Flute Clarinet
I began teaching lessons in high school, and have now been actively teaching privately for over 5 years. I mainly teach saxophone and clarinet, but I am also able to teach beginner piano and flute. I have had experience with students of all ages and levels, from beginner all the way to advanced. I always encourage my students to practice consistently, yet I understand if students are busy and have a lot going on. Read More
