As a first step, I will focus on students to get good fundamental skills as much as we can. It is alway important for all of students to bring next level. So, I will use some etudes and scale books published in the lesson, and teach some my original practice methods. I usually suggest the repertoire students should learn but I am always flexible to teach what students want to learn so that students do not feel being forced to learn music. Read More

I'm here to help the student. We all were students at one point and I remember how I felt in the learning stages. I'm just trying to help the student understand their instrument and assist while bringing confidence to venture the possibilities they can have with that instrument. My teaching style is a fun and simple one. I always say that practice is the best teacher but as an instructor in here to help with the journey. Read More

I believe each person is uniquely different in this life and that goes for music too. For piano beginners, I like to use the standard Faber curriculum, if you're more advanced we can explore adding some more challenging books such as the Hanon scales, Junior Hanon for beginners, etc. I like to supplement core pieces with scales, technical books, and ad hoc assignments that I sometimes have students pick. For voice, it will very much depend on your goals and where you are at vocally, but my voice teaching style is very much grounded in healthy technique and learning about vocal pedagogy, no matter what genre of music you want to sing! For beginning students I usually start with either Fundamentals of Piano Theory or just basic note reading and writing. Since each student is different and responds differently to any variety of instruction methods, it’s important for me to be flexible and find the right one for the student. For kids, keeping the material light enough to understand while being challenging and engaging is important. For adults, being aware that they have busy lives with not as much time to practice as kids is something I always take into consideration. Read More

For beginning students, I typically start with Hal Leanord's Essential Elements. Once the student has a grasp of their instrment and the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire and tecnique exercises. I will try to find out what the student is interested in to help guide my instruction and keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter the age or ability level. Read More

I have had five years of music teaching experience and I am interested in the music education substitute position. I have had 11 years of performance experience in musical and opera productions as well as singing lead and playing keyboard in bands and ensembles. I have a passion for music and a desire to help youth, using music as the bridging vessel. No student walks into a school being a blank slate, so it is important to consider their backgrounds, musical and cultural, when finding teaching approaches and building upon the knowledge they have already acquired. Young students love playing the pop tunes, so I whole-heartedly accept them finding a book of broadway or pop tunes and brining it to lessons. For the older students, I always go to the Rose 32 Etudes for Clarinet, focusing primarily on the slower etudes to continue developing tone. Scales are also a must for all ages - I stress the importance of tone with these exercises because it's not just about the fingers. Read More
