Instruments: Piano Drums
For Beginners, I usually begin with very rudimentary stick control patterns to get used to how the stick feels in the hands. As the lessons progress, then I will instruct patterns on drumset if wanted. The student can request whatever style of drumming they would like to delve into, anywhere from latin percussion to jazz drumset. I like to keep lessons fun and engaging for students of all skill levels and ages, so along with assignments I will come up with improvised grooves and patterns on the spot Read More

For as long as I can remember, music has played a large part in my life. By the age ten, I already knew that music would be more than just a hobby for me, it would become my career. I have been singing and playing piano for over 25 years. I received a BS in music industry studies with an emphasis on business, from the University of Colorado Denver in 2008. I have extensive experience in performance and the music industry as a business, and have had the pleasure of experiencing the local music scene first hand while playing in bands. Read More

Flamenco Guitar: Flamenco is a beautiful, sonorous art, combing the skills of athleticism and grace all into one. This curriculum is designed for all levels whether you can read music or not. The fundamental techniques taught include: ragueos, abinicos, alzapua, arpeggios, picados, and scales as well as speed drills. Whether the student desires to learn for pure enjoyment or to perform in a cuadro (group), the student will learn to perform real flamenco songs associated with the different forms (palos) such as solea, tangos, bulerías, alergrías, etc., by the artists who made them famous like Paco de Lucia, Sabicas, Juan Serrano, and more. Instruments: Piano
I have been teaching private lessons for over 2 years and have taught ages 4-18. My belief is that anyone can play the piano, as long as they have the right motivation and are willing to devote time to daily practice sessions. Young students (ages 4-6) are highly encouraged because I believe this is the best time to start and I have extensive experience with this age group because of my weekly interaction with preschoolers through my classes. Instruments: Piano
For beginning students who are children, I typically start with my own theory/ method system and then move on to the existing method books. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More
Instruments: Piano Violin
For beginning students on violin we start with many techniques found in the Suzuki method. From there, we jump into different styles of music while still focusing on developing solid technical foundations for the student. Once we move into standard repertoire the lessons begin to change based on what the student needs. I am a firm believer in consistent practice. I would much rather have a student who practices daily for 15 minutes then a student who does not practice except for the day before their lesson for two hours. Read More
