I am always continuing to expand my potential as a musician and as a human being. I feel that self-knowledge equates largely to the quality and meaning of music when expressed. Technical abilities are very important of course as they set the limitations of self-expression, though many seem to overlook the deeper purposes and benefits of music. I myself love my craft. From music I gain an intellectual rise through analysis, a creative outlet through improvising and composing, and a great understanding of how my body functions most effectively. Read More

A good teacher wants to listen, assess and guide the student in the learning process according to the student's individual desires, goals and style of learning. This aquired style of teaching is non-threatening and success based. I also teach by analysis, guiding my students to observe how the music is put together, so that they understand the similarities and the contrasts from the start. This is a way to teach about the structure of music and alows for easier practice of the music between lessons. Read More
Instruments: Piano Guitar
I typically use Mel Bay's Modern Guitar Method for beginning guitarists and the Suzuki Method for beggining pianists. For students first learning music, I make sure to include solo pieces that the student is interested in and other custom written fundamental lessons in addition to these resources. Once they reach the point that they have a solid grasp of their instrument, we focus more closely on learning pieces and concepts that reflect musical situations in which the students sees themselves; be it playing solo, playing and singing, accompanying other instrumentalists or vocalists, or playing in an ensemble or band. My experience teaching started when I was 16, a junior in high school, where I taught a few students each week. I then went off to junior college where I studied voice, piano performance, and vocal jazz. I had the amazing opportunity to perform Saint Sean's Piano Concerto No. 2 Mvmt III. in g minor with the orchestra. I then began my studies at Sonoma State University where I earned my Bachelor's degree. Read More
