After several stints at several colleges for both Music Performance and Audio Engineering I am thoroughly enjoying a performing career focusing on drumset, piano and voice. I believe in the philosophy of and empty cup. My lessons are not built for me to tell the student what to do, but rather learn how they learn and research the best practices for reaching that student. There is no "cookie cutter" method that works for all students, because everyone learns and comprehends a little bit differently. I remain sensitive to that and patient with my students. I love giving my students the option to expess themselves and approach them with the methods they enjoy and desire. By 19 i had about 20 students from the age of 5 all the way to age 45, from beginner to advanced levels. I've been playing the piano for 15 years as a church accompanist. I currently perform as a church accompanist at a church in Little Rock for 6 years. During summer 2012, I held a piano teaching internship at Rhythm 88 Music School in Little Rock, Arkansas. I performed at Carnegie Weill Hall with my friend, cellist Kyung-min Kang 2013 summer. The cellist won 3rd place in the American Protege Competition. The winners recital was held during July 2013 at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Read More

My methods vary with the age of the student. For beginners who are children, I usually start with Alfred's Basic Piano Library, which I try to go through most of that series. During that time, the children will occasionally play anything they wish to play that is interesting or fun to them. I strongly believe is positive reinforcement methods. I will work with each student pending on the learning style they need and type of music they are interested in. Also, I try to engage and get the student excited about what they are learning. This is important to progress and keeping them interested in what they do. In relation to teaching any subject area, I strongly believe that students should be taught the basics or fundamentals, and then guided and encouraged to apply and share concepts learned to various scenarios related to the subject area.
