For beginner kids, I typically use the Liela Fletcher Lesson Book series. I find that my students usually progress faster with this series. For teens and adult beginners, I use the James Bastien "Older Beginner Series or John Thompson series to get them started. For beginner students, I typically start with Faber Piano Adventures as it is a very hands-on and interactive way of learning the piano. Once those levels are completed and I determine the student is ready, we move on to more appropriate classical solo repertoire, from various composers, exposing them to every era in Western Classical music, beginning with Baroque through the contemporary period.
