I am currently working towards my master's in saxophone performance at the Hartt School of Music, so I am relatively new to the greater Hartford area. I have been teaching for more than 30 years, mostly in the public schools as well as privately. I have instructed large groups and ensembles, as well as smaller musical groups in and out of the public schools. Performing in various Jazz groups throughout the state has enhanced my teaching knowledge in the field of music education. After graduating from Temple University, in 2017 I performed at the North American Saxophone Alliance Conference at Bridgewater State University in Bridgewater, MA; the New England Saxophone Symposium at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst; as well as a solo and chamber music recital at Smith College in Northampton, MA. I love seeing a student gain an understanding of a concept that had been challenging. In order to accomplish this "aha" moment, I try to learn how the student learns best (visual aids, explanations, listening examples) and use that to help the student. I use popular songs that the student knows to explain concepts that can be challenging. I use stickers for younger students to help mark progress and practice journals for older students to help see how much was accomplished. Read More

I am passionate about teaching, and want my students to succeed. I have been playing clarinet since I was 10 years old, and the saxophone for 40 years. I am a graduate of the Hartt School, where I majored in Jazz Studies, with saxophone performance. I have played in bands on cruise ships, performed in Latin, Rock, Jazz and RB Bands.
