I am a mostly rock performing saxophonist based out of Bellevue, WA. I grew up and got most of my education in music here in Bellevue before attending, and subsequently graduating from, the George Washington University in 2018. Since then I have spent most of my time traveling up and down the east coast with the rock group Bencoolen. Although most of my formal training has been in jazz or classical music, this group has allowed me to vastly broaden my horizons and adapt certain tone qualities and other techniques to fit a more rock style. The patience and focus needed to execute a song correctly is as much an exercise in meditation as it is about performing music. As I tell my students, the mind is the true instrument. I am a passionate, experienced musician with a special place in my heart for helping beginners. I have two years of teaching fifth grade, middle school, and high schoolers with flute and saxophone. I want to primarily work with young or beginner flute players to help build them up into prominent players and watch them grow. I have been invited to play professionally and for fun all over Southern Oregon since I was a Junior in high school, and since then have also been asked to come teach at many schools around the area. My teaching style when helping out others is being laid back but also making sure that what we assign is being worked on. One thing that I have noticed in myself is that if I try to take more than I can handle, I set myself up for failure so making sure whatever we are working on is enough to keep you practicing until the next time we meet. I also love seeing anyone succeed so when that happens we make sure to be supportive but also make sure if something doesn't sound quite right we take some time to address that and see what we need to do so that next time you come, we are acing the material!
