Depending on the individual needs goals of each student, I will customize lesson plans on a week-to-week basis. If there are no immediate goals for my students, I prefer to focus on classical technique and tone exercises that I compile through a variety of method books for each woodwind instrument. This includes but is not limited to: Moyse, Kroepsch, Baermann, Ferling, Shaw, Filas, Lacour, and many others. I have played all over the east coast in a wide variety of musical settings and genres. In college I would often sub for a friend of mine at a local music studio which helped me deal with a variety of different students of varying ages and backgrounds, as well as a few students of my own. Therefore, I will set realistic goals for my students so that they are not overwhelmed, but at the same time are constantly engaged and challenged by the material. Some goals past students have set are learning to improvise, learn a specific piece, prepare for a musical competition/performance, prepare for a college audition or be able to express themselves through there instrument.
