During my internship with Leaders of Tomorrow Youth Center  and volunteer work with The Cavalier Music Enrichment Program (both based in Baltimore, Maryland), I have taught music to over 250 students. From general music theory to specific instruction in brass, woodwind, and percussion techniques; I have had the privilege to work with students of various ages, spanning from sixth graders to college students. The recording of each lesson gives students something to look forward to at the end of our session. Whether they think that they've done really poorly or extremely well, I encourage them to listen to themselves critically and prepare to share genuine feedback. Then we discuss both their strengths and the areas of opportunity for growth. This practice helps students progress over time. In my teaching, I like to have a strong focus in fundamentals while still fostering an enjoyable and entertaining lesson atmosphere. A solid basis is fundamentals will go strides in the student’s confidence. A well balanced medium between fundamentals and fun and creative learning is where I like to focus my teaching philosophy.
