I want my students to find enjoyment and purpose from making music first and foremost. Every student has a unique set of skills, and not every student learns the same way. I believe that something valuable can be learned from any single piece of music. Etude books, like Voxman's Selected Studies, and Rochut's Melodious Etudes are my go to for daily practice, but are not the only option available. Rather than simply copy my demonstrations, I engage students to make decisions at every step of their study, regardless of their age and ability. The point of music is to have fun creating art, sharing that gift, all while learning a skill that not many others are able to learn, but here are so many other benefits from what you learn that can be utilized for the rest of your life. I graduated from Oakland University in 2014 with a bachelors degree in music. I am not currently a Masters Student at Roosevelt University where I study with CSO Principal trombonist Jay Friedman. I maintain an active free lancing schedule in the city playing musical theater, orchestras, and in chamber music groups throughout the Chicagoland area. While a music student at the University of Iowa, I performed with all three concert bands and two jazz bands as well as playing in orchestral and chamber settings. After graduating from Iowa with a degree in music performance and education, I performed with the Idaho Falls Symphony Orchestra as well as a ska/rock band.
