I normally use the Standard of Excellence method books for most of my students; however, I am open minded to adjusting to each individual student's musical needs, whether it be Jazz, Classical, or whatever style music the student is focusing on. For Drummers, I prefer the Haskell Harr Method, or the Buddy Rich Method Book, as well as the Breeze Easy Method Book. The reason a student desires lessons is because they at some point, began to develop a passion for music. Through lessons, I hope to help that passion blossom and teach that student how to best express themselves through music. My teaching style again goes back to finding out what and how the student wants to learn. If desired, I also guarantee you will be playing a blues and improvising within a maximum of 6 weeks as long as you practice at least 10 minutes, three times a week.  You will have the option of playing along with recordings minus your part so that you can experience the joy of ensemble playing early on in the safety of your own home. I love creating small ensemble groups of students at similar levels and arranging concerts at regular intervals. I graduated from the University of Connnecticut, Storrs, with a Bachelor of Science in Music Education in 1972, and a Master of Music degree, with a concentration in Piano Pedagogy in 1980. As an undergraduate my major instruments were piano and trombone. I was in the UConn Marching Band and had the great fortune to perform on my trombone in Europe during the 1970 Marching Band Tour.
