My four years playing in the Navy was an experience in learning that could not have been accomplished elsewhere. I traveled the world performing concerts everywhere and finally ending up being the lead trumpet with the then brand new Orlando Naval Training Center Show Band. After leaving the Navy, I formed my own show band and toured the US for five years, playing night clubs and backing up such entertainers as The Four Aces, Joanne Castle, Bobby Rydell, Fats Domino, Dick Contino and Al Hirt. Orff and Kodály are the requirements throughout my college study, which I integrated into my teaching and found it helpful for developing students' sense of music. I am familiar with the major piano teaching system, including Faber, Bastien, Alfred and Baker. I evaluated the student's instinct on the piano at the first lesson to decide which material is good for them.
