I'm receiving my Master Degree in trumpet performance at Brigham Young University. I received my undergraduate degree in music education from Stephen F. Austin State University. I'm well versed in many different styles of music including jazz, rock, and classical. Teaching trumpet is my favorite passion and I take extreme pride in watching my students grow through lessons. I use my own technique exercises that I write and cater for each of my students. I am a huge fan of the Arban's technique book for brass, but I like to keep lessons fun with songs that challenge my students at their level. Once the student has progressed to the intermediate level - solid fundamentals, musicianship, and a desire for learning - I introduce solo repertoire. I'm a quietly passionate instructor motivated by my love of music and my students. In 2016, I graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Arts in English, with a Minor in Music. As an undergrad, I often found my love of music creeping into my major coursework-- including my thesis! I've loved practicing and performing for over a decade (which is also more than half of my life!). The first step in guiding a student to their own discoveries is to put them in the best possible mentality to succeed. A clear, present, and focused mind is the ultimate goal.
