For beginning students, especially young children, I always use the Hal Leonard's Essential Elements Books 1-3. After some time, when the student has more of a grasp on the fundamentals and reading music, then I will bring in some basic solo repertoire and music of their choice (Disney, Star Wars, etc.) to inspire them to continue and feel motivated to learn. I teach both the Classical and Suzuki methods. I have students of all ages so it varies which student is learning which method. The best for children is the Suzuki method that is widely used in the USA. Classical methods can be used when I teach young adults and adults. It is pretty flexible though and I sometimes teach younger children the classical method. I like challenges and I often have children and older students that express different tempers. Read More
