For intermediate students I try to make it fun, according to their ages, may be throw some pop tunes here and there, or if they are more serious into classical then I would definitely enjoy the challenge of teaching relaxation techniques during difficult passages such as double stops, high positions, string crossings, etc. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. I was given the opportunity to teach some young beginning string players and I found that I really enjoyed seeing them develop and took great pride in their progress. I then went to college as a string player and played in multiple orchestras and took part in recitals nearly weekly during my time there.
