My cello instruction is separated by levels and books. Level 0-1 is in Hal Leonard's Essential Elements books 1 and 2. Level 1-2 is Rick Mooney's Position Pieces Book 1, as well as sheet music and books outside of that method book. Level 2-3 is Rick Mooney's Position Pieces Book 2 and sheet music, and 3+ will be Rick Mooney's Thumb Position books. Currently performs several times a year at The Biltmore House in Asheville, NC and several other events in the Atlanta Metro area. I urge my students to practice regularly on a consistent schedule; improvement is dependent on this, but I also encourage them to explore. Learning that each student has their own pace at learning an instrument is also very important on both sides tof the teacher and student, so using whatever to help a student grasp how to play is key. Always start where the student is, and take them from there. Always encourage and inspire students to be better than yesterday. Progress, no matter the amount, is progress. Take your own pace. If you have a specific deadline, for example a college audition, you will have to commit to practicing more than usual and we will create a plan of action. Also, I do write letters of recommendation.
